There is nothing worse than being sent a surprise bill for hidden costs, so listed below are the associated costs with building a web site.

These costs are thankfully quite small, but should not be forgotten about as they can mount up, and give a nasty surprise. I should mention these costs are above the cost of the creation of your site and the exact cost will depend on the companies we chose. Domain Name and Email
If you are going for a web site for the first time you will need a domain name ( your web address for example - 'www.maryandbillsB&B.co.uk") to own theses addresses will cost from £1.99 to £8.99 per year.

Host Company
You will need a 'host' - this is a company that hosts your web site so the world can access it. These hosts cost about £5.00-£9.00 / month for your average site. Most of these host deals come with email addresses.

Online Shop
If you are thinking about online shopping or an eShop as they are sometimes called (for example you you may be a gallery owner or a shop owner and wish to take orders and payment over the internet). This requires a different technology and costs slightly more to host, prices start at about £10.00 / month. Do take into account that you may wish to run this shop in conjunction with a normal site so you can display information like - how to find your gallery or B&B with a map, business hours, events, etc.
